I Know What You Did Last Summer release date: A new Fisherman stalks a new batch of victims

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are back, and a new crop of sexy Southporters are in trouble

It's been quite a few summers since the Southport Massacre of 1997 - 28, to be exact - but the unlucky teens of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise are still quite literally on the hook for manslaughter. The fourth and latest film in the franchise is headed to theaters in just a few weeks, but before we tell you when you should expect it, take a look at the trailer here:

Returning to the franchise when I Know What You Did Last Summer debuts in theaters July 18 are Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., reprising their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson, respectively. They're called back into the violent world of the iconic Fisherman killer when a new group of 20-somethings accidentally causes the death of a mysterious stranger. And this time, they won't have Buffy Summers to help them out.

(Yes I know Sarah Michelle Gellar was a different character in the IKWYDLS franchise. No it doesn't stop me from hoping she'll stake the Fisherman every time I rewatch it.)

I Know What You Did Last Summer comes to theaters July 18.
