Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is “quite special and a little bit different” for Avengers star Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner had a great time working on Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

What does an Avenger do when they’re done saving the world? They become entangled in a murder mystery. Jeremy Renner, who is known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be appearing in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The mystery film is the latest chapter in director Rian Johnson’s Knives Out series, and Renner couldn’t be more thrilled for us to see it.

“It was great. It’s great do ensemble again,” Renner says during a panel at Florida Supercon. “It’s not so much weight on your shoulders to carry something. And also, a known franchise, and it’s a great one. It’s a great departure of things I’ve done recently, and I love everybody involved, which is why I did it.”

“Rian Johnson is fantastic. And I love the tone of these kind of films, and this third one I think is quite special and a little bit different. I can’t say much about it as you know, but I’m well trained from Marvel. I haven’t even seen it. I’m going to see it come September at the Toronto Film Festival.”

The film will be screened at the Toronto Film Festival in September before it streams on Netflix on December 12. Renner will be playing a character named Dr. Nat Sharp. No word yet on if he’ll be a killer, a victim, or someone caught in the middle. Either way, if you’ve seen the Knives Out movies, then you know to be prepared for a twist.

“I’m really excited. You guys I think will really love it. I can’t wait to share it with you. I can’t wait to see it.”
