At New York Comic Con 2025, Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson got the opportunity to sit down with actor Michael Chiklis for an extensive conversation about his career. The star of movies like The Senior and shows like The Shield and The Commish, Chiklis has plenty of interesting anecdotes to share about his varied career. And he has some specific thoughts about having played the ever lovin’ Thing in the 2005 big-screen adaptation of Fantastic Four.
The topic came up after Robinson asked Chiklis about a different role he played: Zeus on Ducktales (2017). Chiklis remarked that in addition to his Greek heritage, he was motivated to play the role in part because he wanted to bring joy to his children, who would appreciate his appearance on the beloved animated series.
On a related note, Chiklis said, “It was wonderful to do the Fantastic Four movies and see my kids’ little faces light up with their dad playing a superhero. That was fun for my whole family.”
Robinson pointed out that The Thing is the coolest and most beloved member of the Fantastic Four. “Well, I think so,” Chiklis, who played the role in the 2005 movie and its 2007 sequel, agreed. “The Thing was pretty hot s***.”
