Saoirse Ronan wants to be a Bond villain and now that's all we want too

Excitement continues to build for the next era of 007 onscreen, and Saoirse Ronan wants to be a part of it. The actress is ready to depart from the more heroic roles she's played in the past (hello, Little Women) to embrace darkness in this next stage of her career.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Ronan revealed her goal of playing a Bond villain in the near future. "I want to go dark," Ronan said, "I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious. I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain. Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there’s something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that."
Listen, I believe in both women's rights and women's wrongs. And last year, Ronan starred in a music video for Talking Heads' classic song, Psycho Killer, where she played an office worker on the edge of a nervous breakdown. The Bond films don't have the greatest track record when it comes to presenting women as multidimensional human beings. Having someone like Ronan, who has been a force for more nuanced females onscreen for years, in a major role in a Bond film could be the first step in a journey that's been long overdue.
