John Boyega finally got a tour of Disney Parks' Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride, and here's his review
John Boyega loves the Disney theme park ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but he thinks his animatronic has seen better days

Chicago's C2E2 2025 was three days of comics, community, celebrities, and pizza (Pequod's, if you want to know). Read our full recap of the weekend, watch all of the Main Stage panel videos, see all the best cosplay photos, and more. And if you want to do it all again next year, we've got the dates for C2E2 2026, too.
If you ever visit Disneyland in Anaheim or Walt Disney World in Orlando, do yourself a favor and ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. It’s a dark ride that revolutionizes what a theme park experience could be. The ride, which is set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, allows you to become a Resistance soldier, and meet familiar faces like Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren, and General Hux. John Boyega, who plays Finn in the Star Wars saga, is represented on the ride a few times. He could be seen via video message during the preshow, and an animatronic of him appears on the ride itself.
For Boyega, being represented at a Disney theme park is the ultimate honor. Speaking to a crowd at the John Boyega: The Force of Talent panel at C2E2 2025, Boyega gave his thoughts on the critically acclaimed ride.
“I was there last week, and we had a phenomenal time. They need to clean up my animatronics a little bit. His bottom lip was looking a little bit lazy.”
I don’t know if Boyega went to Anaheim or Orlando, but as a frequent visitor to the Orlando version, I agree that the animatronic has seen better days. Animatronic aside, Boyega was blown away by the ride.
“Phenomenal ride, a very immersive experience, and honestly, going to stuff like that makes me feel appreciative again, and it makes me emphasize, you’ve got to just put your energy into the fans that support you. You’ve got to put your energy into that, because it’s a different experience for me. I’m kind of walking past the ride, I’m on the ride, I’m in the park, so people come up to you and speak to you. And I just had a great day, because a lot of people came and just had such positive words and support. And the ride is phenomenal man. I had a really really good time.”
