Only a handful of actors know what it’s like to play Superman in live action, and Tyler Hoechlin is one of them. The actor portrayed Superman in the CW’s various Arrowverse shows and was later given a starring role in Superman & Lois. Hoechlin knows the pressure and the importance of wearing the Superman suit, which is one of the reasons why David Corenswet reached out to him before he began filming James Gunn’s Superman.

“David Corenswet sent me a really nice note before they started filming, and I sent him a note back,” Tyler Hoechlin says during a panel at FanX Salt Lake 2025. “I think there’s a mutual respect for people who come into this world. You know that they’re there for a reason. You know if somebody was to ask for advice, I think with all of us, we’re always happy to share any advice if somebody asks, but there’s also just a respect for the other actors and people coming into the world. They’re already for a reason.”

“I wished [Corenswet] luck. I said, ‘Hey, man, just enjoy it. Have fun. I hope you have a great time. You’re there for a reason. Just trust that and have fun.” For me it’s always been that. When I’ve met other people that have played the character, we have shared experiences and stories that come up.”
