To Blink or not to Blink? James Gunn appears to edit out the moment DC's Man of Steel flinches in the newest Superman trailer
There are arguments to be made for either version of the shot being "the best" though we're a fan of the more human version of Superman.

How important is a blink? When you’re as powerful as Superman, one blink can mean a lot for a character. That’s why fans have been quick to notice one small change in the recent trailer for James Gunn’s Superman film. In an older trailer, the Man of Steel flinched when he was hit in the head with a can. In the new trailer, Superman doesn’t seem to react at all. So why the change and why does it matter?
Look, we know that there is no way that a random human throwing a tin can at Superman’s head is going to hurt him. He’s called the Man of Steel for a reason, right? So, some fans were confused as to why he appeared to flinch in the original teaser trailer for the movie. We’d argue that it is perfectly in character for him to blink when something hits him in the head – it is a normal human reaction (and Superman has always been the most human of all the DC heroes). We’d also argue that his blinking is more about the action than the impact; this is clearly a Superman struggling with the clash between his intentions and how his actions are being viewed by the public.
Removing the small flinch somehow dehumanizes Superman and creates distance between him and the public, something he usually tries not to do. There is a reason he is walking through that crowd rather than flying over them and why he didn’t move out of the way when he almost certainly heard the can flying at him. But taking it out does emphasize the indestructible nature of the character, something that we’re sure is going to be a focus in the movie.
So far, James Gunn hasn’t acknowledged the change in footage. Before we read too much into it, there is no real indication which version of the scene will be in the final cut of Superman when we see it in July. They likely shot that scene a dozen times and got a dozen slightly different versions of Superman’s reaction, so there is no telling what we’ll see in the theaters.
James Gunn's Superman is flying into theaters soon enough, and Popverse has all you need to prepare.
