Nothing haunts me quite as much as the specter of homeownership. Which is why I am pleased to report to you that Ed and Lorraine Warren's home from The Conjuring films has been purchased by comedian Matt Rife and "ghost hunter" Elton Castee.
The Warrens, of course, were real humans who lived in Monroe, Connecticut, where they housed dozens of objects they believed to have supernatural power. One of those objects is the doll, Annabelle, who went on to star in her own slate of films. In real life, however, the OG Annabelle just looks like your average Raggedy Ann. Annabelle is housed in a box with a glass window with a sign underneath that reads, "WARNING! POSITIVELY DO NOT," because the only thing scarier than a haunted, malicious doll is an incomplete sentence. Frankly, I could probably use a "WARNING! POSITIVELY DO NOT" sign to wear around when I'm feeling a bit overstimulated in public. Do not "what?" I don't know, man.
Rife took to Instagram to post the "INSANE ANNOUNCEMENT 😍🤯😈👹" (expect to see this same combination of emojis if I ever buy a home of my own) that he and Elton Castee will be "the legal guardian [sic] for at least the next 5 years, of the entire haunted collection including THE ANNABELLE DOLL" housed in the Warren house. Rife went on to say, “If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted. You also may know The Conjuring films are my favorite scary movies of all time. So I’m incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history. Ed and Lorain [sic] Warren arguably put demonology and paranormal into the mainstream and are the very heart of some of the most famous haunted stories of all time, The Conjuring House, Amityville Horror, et… [sic]"
Rife shared that he and Castee have plans to "open the house for overnight stays and museum tours so you yourself can experience and learn all the haunted history surrounding this amazing place." Considering that the house is located in Monroe, Connecticut, about half an hour from Bridgeport and less than an hour from New Haven, if you feel underwhelmed by the Warrens' former digs, there are plenty of other places in Connecticut where you can get your spooky on.
