Galactus is coming to your local movie theater — as the latest novelty popcorn bucket, in support of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Well, eating too much popcorn is still better than eating planets, I suppose. (And now I’m wondering if any planet could be as buttery as theater popcorn… But I digress.)
As if to prove that the popcorn bucket wars are still a thing, Marvel revealed the Galactus Popcorn Vessel — as it’s officially called, because I guess it’s rude to call a head a ‘bucket’? — in its own video Wednesday, complete with a hero shot of the back-lit vessel overflowing with tasty, tasty snack food while its dimensions are shared onscreen: at 17.5” tall and 20” wide, it is, according to Marvel, ‘the Universe’s BIGGEST popcorn vessel.” That is almost certainly a claim that will be challenged by whatever the next movie with an extremely ambitious promotional scheme is going to be, but we’ll let it stand for now — after all, who wants to challenge someone with the Power Cosmic?
(Wait, does that mean people eating Galactus popcorn will have the Popcorn Cosmic? Someone, get me a trademark lawyer.)
The Galactus Popcorn Vessel reveal wasn’t the only Fantastic Four: First Steps promo from Marvel today — the studio also released an announcement video for the fact that tickets are now available for the movie, with what just might be the first time we’re seeing Franklin Richards for ourselves. The Fantastic Four: First Steps will arrive in theaters July 25. We’re still waiting to find out when the Galactus Popcorn Vessel will show up, though.
