Yes, Liam Neeson knows there is a Taken reference in The Naked Gun's marketing - and he's bored of it

Liam Neeson is a man with a particular set of skills and he's tired of being told about them all the time.

Liam Neeson has had a lot of iconic roles in his long career as an actor. In fact, he was nominated for an Oscar for his dramatic work long before he was cast in Star Wars or became an action star with the Taken franchise. However, it is that series that has become one of his most famous parts, so much so that the marketing team for The Naked Gun slipped a Taken reference into the logline for the movie. And Liam Neeson is already over it.

As part of his promotional duties for The Naked Gun, Liam Neeson stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers. The host asked him to do a dramatic reading of the film’s logline, which Neeson obliged, but he didn’t get far into it before he had to roll his eyes. “The Naked Gun,” he began. “’The only man…’ and I’ve cut this, the next bit. ‘Has a particular set of skills.’” He then mimed yawning and falling asleep before continuing to read the logline as normal.

This is an obvious reference to Taken, where Liam Neeson’s character famously warns the men who have kidnapped his daughter that he has a “particular set of skills” that will allow him to find them and kill them. It is a brilliant moment thanks to the sheer intensity of Neeson’s performance, but clearly, he’s bored of constantly having that one moment come up over and over again.

The Naked Gun, which sees Liam Neeson use his particular set of skills to be very funny instead of very intimidating, is out now in cinemas.
