Get ready for Homer's classic story as you've never seen it before, thanks to legendary contemporary director Christopher Nolan. The writer/director behind such movies as Memento, The Dark Knight trilogy and Inception is turning his considerable skill towards classical literature with The Odyssey, featuring the likes of Matt Damon and Tom Holland. So, when will the theatrical release date for The Odyssey arrive?
The Odyssey release date is July 17th, 2026 in theaters. It has been about three years since Nolan's previous movie, Oppenheimer, debuted on July 21st, 2026. The music for The Odyssey will be composed by frequent Nolan collaborator Ludwig Göransson. And of course, there are plenty of other movie release dates for you to keep in mind this summer. The Odyssey features an extensive and star-studded cast. Damon plays Odysseus, while Holland plays Odysseus's son Telemachus. Anne Hathaway plays Odysseus's faithful wife Penelope, while Robert Pattinson plays one of Penelope's suitors, Antinous. Zendaya will play Athena and Charlize Theron will appear as Circe. Additional actors include Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin and many other big-name stars.
