Identifying all 26 superheroes on DC Studios' Superman movie mural in the Hall of Justice
There are some deep cuts and some obscure characters here, but we think we've identified them all.

The fun thing about the new DCU that James Gunn has put together is that it isn’t starting with the very first superhero. Instead, it is giving us a world with 300 years of superheroics to catch up on. Eagle-eyed fans might have spotted the mural on the wall of the Hall of Justice during Superman, which was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. Thankfully, James Gunn has gone and posted the full image on social media, which, of course, led to everyone scrambling to figure out exactly who these DC superheroes are.
Just who are the heroes depicted on the Hall of Justice in Superman? While James Gunn might have released the images, he didn’t tell us who any of the characters are. Some feel obvious, while others are truly deep cuts from the annals of DC lore. And, even among our team of comic book fanatics here at Popverse, there were some (rather heated) disagreements about who was who.
That means that the list below is very unofficial until James Gunn or someone else at DC Studios says otherwise. We’ve merely put together our best guess of who each character on the Hall of Justice mural in Superman is. Here are our guesses from left to right.

- Sister Symmetry
- Shining Knight
- Penthesilea (or possibly Queen Hippolyta)
- Black Pirate
- Max Mercury as Whip Whirlwind
- Miss Liberty
- Super Chief
- El Diablo
- Iron Munro
- Americommando
- Sandman (Wesley Dodd)
- Amazing Man
- Zatara

- Liberty Belle
- Bulleteer and Bullet-Girl
- Max Mercury
- TNT and Dan the Dino-Myte
- Phantom Lady
- Atomic Knight
- Freedom Beast
- Wildcat
- Vibe
- Gunfire
- Max Lord
Again, this is an unofficial list put together by bashing our collective comic book knowledge together here at Popverse. There is a non-zero chance that some of these could change. For example, that could be Americommando, or it could be Commander Steel. Both are perfectly valid guesses, as the costume looks like a combination of both of them.
Eventually, someone is going to sit James Gunn down and make him give us an official answer. Until then, we’ll keep speculating.
James Gunn's Superman movie is out now - and we have a lot to say about it. You can also read about Superman's S-Shield through the ages, how Superman and Clark Kent keep their secret identity secret, our recs for best Superman comics, and how to watch all his TV series and movies in order.
