The Wuthering Heights production team made their sets smaller in order to make Jacob Elordi's Heathcliff look out of place
Why Jacob Elordi looks so huge in Wuthering Heights (hint – it took more than his height)

If you caught 'Wuthering Heights' in theaters (the movie has quote marks in the title!), then you might be thinking, “Wow, Jacob Elordi is gigantic.” Elordi plays the role of Heathcliff in the latest big screen adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic novel. While Elordi’s 6’ 5” stature makes him taller than the rest of the cast, the production designers decided to really sell his height by shrinking the sets. As director Emerald Fennell explains, there was a bit of extra storytelling going on with everything from the sets to the costumes.
“Suzie Davies, who’s the production designer on this and who worked on Saltburn too, is just the best ever,” Wuthering Heights director Emerald Fennell says during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “One of the early conversations about building the set was to build Wuthering Heights to be too small for [Jacob]. To have that idea that he’s never quite fitting into any place that he’s in.”
This subliminal storytelling even made its way into Jacob’s wardrobe. “Even later when he kind of comes back and he’s wearing these kind of beautiful clothes again, working with [costume designer Jacqueline Durran], the costume side of it – he’s never comfortable. He’s always sort of straining against the kind of physical reality of the place he’s in.”
'Wuthering Heights' is currently in theaters nationwide.
