The fourth movie is ultimately titled My Hero Academia: You're Next, and aims to explore "exciting new territory" in Kohei Horikoshi's superhero universe. So far, details of the plot are being kept under wraps, but fans of the anime might be able to craft some exciting theories from the explosive footage found within the trailer.

The trailer shows someone who appears to be posing as legenday superhero All Might causing some major trouble, with Deku and the rest of the heroes banding against him. However, a lot more appears to be happening under the surface, and the stakes are potentially catastrophic for the delicate balance of power in My Hero Academia's very special world.

On top of the first-look trailer, Toho has shared a new visual for the movie:

Once again, Bones is handling the animation under Tensai Okamura's (The Seven Deadly Sins) direction, with creator Kohei Horikoshi directly involved. So far, only an August 2, 2024, release date has been announced for Japan, but international distribution plans should arrive in the near future, as My Hero Academia is one of the many mangas and animes that have exploded in popularity in recent years. On top of the new movie, the seventh season of the anime series is set to begin airing on May 4, 2024.

My Hero Academia is set in a world where most of the human population has gained superpowers called "quirks" which vary widely and can be inherited. Some of these individuals earn the title of Heroes, cooperating with authorities to apprehend criminals commonly known as Villains and protect the citizens who need help. Things are especially complicated for protagonist Izuku Midoriya (AKA Deku), a young high school student with an unfortunate flaw: Unlike 80% of the world’s population, he has no quirk. But of course, his life changes one day...

In case you forgot, there's also a live-action My Hero Academia movie in very active development at Netflix, and one of the writers behind the project recently shared a promising update.
