Disney signs up to distribute the Aardman/Pokémon collaboration The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu
Disney has seen the awesome power of Pokémon and they want more of it for Disney+.

One of the most famous anime series of all time is teaming up with one of the most iconic British animation studios ever, as Wallace & Gromit creators Aardman are making an upcoming Pokémon animated series. To top off the collaboration, Disney is doing the honors of distributing the show on both its Disney XD channel and Disney+ streaming service in 2027.
Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu has been announced. The series is in the stop-motion style that Aardman is known for thanks to their successful franchises like Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit, and Shaun the Sheep. It follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they roam the land of Galar to protect wayward Pokémon who find themselves in need. However, as the title implies, things don’t exactly go to plan for the pair.
“From the moment we selected our titular heroes, we knew it had the makings of a really funny, heartfelt odd-couple story,” explained director Tom Parkinson. “Sirfetch’d has this wonderfully noble, slightly bumbling energy – determined to be the best knight in the whole of Galar. While Pichu is the playful, curious squire, and often, actual voice of reason.”
This series was first teased back in 2024 when it was announced that The Pokémon Company International and Aardman would be working together, but this is the first time that the whole concept has been revealed, as well as the involvement of Disney as the international distributor for the series. Over the weekend, the first teaser trailer for the series was revealed.
Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu will debut on Disney XD and Disney+ in 2027.
