Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy wants Disney to release the Star Wars Mon Mothma music just as badly as you do
Gilroy, the showrunner of Andor and co-writer of Rogue One, thinks that the world deserves the "rave-like" song Niamos on their Spotify

Who knew that, it a heart-wrenching series that tackles a very prescient regarding the rise of facism, one of the most popular thinks about Andor season 2 would be a dance number? In case you weren't aware, that dance happens in episode 3, when series lead Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) attends a wedding, bopping along with an elite crowd as an absolute banger of a song plays in the background. Ever since the episode aired, Star Wars fans have been begging for Disney/Lucasfilm to actually release the track, and today, we're here to tell you that Andor's showrunner has the same desire.
Andor's showrunner is Tony Gilroy, who has been with the Star Wars series titular lead Cassian Andor ever since the character appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars story, which Gilroy helped write. On May 30, Gilroy was at the PaleyLive: An Evening With Andor panel at The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles, where moderator and comedian Patton Oswalt asked a question he had seen all over Star Wars fan forums: When will "the EDM, rave-like music in episode three" make it into an official soundtrack?
"I've been banging on this for three weeks now," Gilroy responded, "I wanted the stems to be released."
In case you're a layperson like myself, "stems" is Hollywood lingo for compiled audio tracks that feature in a film or television show. Don't worry, I had to look that up to, but what I didn't have to Google was why the song from the episode, officially called Niamos!, has yet to receive an official release.
"My understanding," Gilroy continued, "is that that there are legal reasons why Disney can't release the stems."
We coulda guessed. But don't give up just yet, Star Wars fand, apparently there's a Galaxy not far off when we do get an official Niamos release.
"I think they're going to, next week, release the full proper mix that we have already," the showrunner claims, "They're going to go to some selected DJs and have them remix it."
"I do think they should hurry," he concludes, "Because wedding season is coming. [...] To miss June and not have Niamos! at a number of weddings... write your congressman, OK?"
We'll get right on that, Tony.
