AMC's upcoming The Vampire Lestat has a moment so wild it made star Sam Reid throw his computer

Why Sam Reid says The Vampire Lestat season 3 contains an episode he couldn’t believe AMC would make.

When Interview with the Vampire returns for its third season, things are going to get wild. The new season, which will be retitled as Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat, will premiere on AMC in 2026. According to Lestat actor Sam Reid, the new season will contain a moment so controversial that it caused him to throw his computer in frustration.

“It is a very faithful adaptation because when you read the books and you know, you kind of know what’s going on,” Lestat actor Sam Reid tells Popverse’s Ashley Victoria Robinson in a New York Comic Con 2025 interview. “There was one episode from this season, I think I was in New York for some reason, I don’t know why. It was the start of the year. And I read it, and [showrunner Rolin Jones] sent me a message like, ‘Have you read it.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And then I got a FaceTime from both [writer Hannah Moscovitch] and Rolin wanting to talk. And I was walking in the middle of the street. I threw my computer across the room.”

Don’t worry, Reid assures us the computer survived the impact.

“Yeah, it was actually fine. It was snap thrown, not actually smashed. But I put it down and said, ‘Fuck this. Fuck this. No way. No way.’ And I said that. I remember like a visceral reaction to this script and then I thought, ‘No, he wouldn’t do that. They wouldn’t do this. They couldn’t do this.’ And I went back and finished it, and I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ It’s so intense reading it for the first time and realizing you’re going to have to do this. It’s such a gift.”
