Severance's Ms. Casey is signing in to work on Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender remake, and she's not alone

Dichen Lachman, Dolly de Leon, and Terry Chen are just some of the actors newly revealed to be joining the Netflix remake of the animated classic, as it moves into production on its third and final season

As the second season of Netflix’s live action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender wraps production, new cast members for the season have been revealed — including a very familiar face for fans of Apple TV+’s Severance. Ms. Casey herself, Dichen Lachman, will be signing onto the series as Air Nomad Yangchen.

Lachman, who’s also appeared on a number of other television shows including Dollhouse, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, and Altered Carbon — she’s also a recurring voice actor on the animated Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, spinning out of her on-screen role in 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion — is just one of a number of actors newly revealed to be joining the Netflix series for its second season. Additionally, the show will be adding Triangle of Sadness star Dolly de Leon as Lo and Li, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Lily Gao as Ursa, and Madison Hu as Fei.

The show’s second season has just wrapped production on its second season, and as announced via a video released by Netflix, is immediately rolling into production on its third and final season.

New cast members have also been announced for that third season: Killers of the Flower Moon’s Tantoo Cardinal will play Hama, while Jon Jon Briones will play Piandao. The show’s three season structure maps to the original Nickelodeon animated series that acts as source material for this adaptation.

While the Netflix live action show is set to wrap after its third season, Avatar is gearing up for a significant revival in terms of animation; a big screen sequel is set for release in October 2026, while a new animated series from the creators of the original is currently in development with no official release date announced.
