An MCU Daredevil/Loki team-up? It almost happened... but not in the way you imagine
Before Daredevil: Born Again season 1 was retooled, Loki actor Tom Hiddleston was set to direct an episode

Tom Hiddleston has graced both the big and small screens as the Asgardian god of lies, Loki, but even as his on-screen anti-hero took over a seat at the end of time, there was one important seat Hiddleston himself avoided: the director's chair. And as it turns out, the actor was set to take the helm for a fan-favorite Marvel Studios show for Disney+ - but it wasn't his own. For a brief period, Hiddleston was destined to direct an episode of Daredevil: Born Again's first season, but things didn't end up working out.
Charlie Cox, the actor behind Daredevil, explained during a conversation with Josh Horowitz that Hiddleston was initially signed on to direct an episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 1 before the WGA and SGA strikes of 2023 began.
"The first season of [Daredevil] Born Again, before the strike, was going to be 18 episodes long, and Tom [Hiddleston] was going to direct one of the episodes," Cox explained. "One of the great losses of that back half of the original season, even though the changes that were made to the show were needed and necessary, and made it much better. But he was going to episode 12 or something."
For those that don't remember: Disney and Marvel closed down production of the first season of Daredevil: Born Again post-strikes in 2024 after seeing early scenes that had been shot pre-strike. The show's original creative team was released and the show was retooled with input from Marvel executives into the show that has just finished its second season on Disney+. As part of that retooling, the first season went from 18 episodes to nine.
Currently, we don't know if Tom Hiddleston has any plans on directing in the future. But we do know that Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is filming this year, so perhaps Hiddleston finally got the chance to direct an episode? However the chips fall, we hope Hiddleston gets to direct at some point in the future.
