War, huh? What is it good for? Five episodes of a Doctor Who spin-off showcasing UNIT, apparently

Even as the second season of Doctor Who ends with, admittedly, a pretty big cliffhanger, the BBC took the time to remind people that the Whoniverse is expanding later this year by releasing the first trailer for the show’s upcoming spin-off, The War Between The Land and The Sea.
The five-part series, which sees long running Doctor Who organization UNIT trying to keep the peace as the reemergence of the Sea Devils — a 1970s amphibious villain from the show — plunges the world into a conflict for control of the seas, is co-written by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies and Pete McTighe, with the latter also acting as an executive producer on the show. Dylan Holmes Williams, who’s directed episodes of Doctor Who and Apple TV+’s Servant, directs all five episodes.
Russell Tovey (Years and Years, American Horror Story: NYC, HBO’s Looking) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki, Surface, Black Mirror) star as the human and Sea Devils lead characters, respectively.
Watch the trailer below.
The War Between The Land and The Sea will debut on BBC One and Disney+ later this year.
