With 5 international versions of the Ghosts TV series going strong right now, two of its original creators tease a return to their hit franchise

Ghosts UK kicked off a popular series in the US and now has multiple international versions out, so there is always the opportunity for more in the future.

Knowing when to end a show can be a difficult balance. No one wants to cut a story short when there is still more to tell, but, equally, there isn’t much joy to be had in stringing audiences along and not delivering a satisfying ending. While the creators of Ghosts UK are apparently pleased with how and when they ended the show, they’ve also left the door open for more if the opportunity arises.

During the Ghosts UK panel at MCM London 2025, co-creators Martha Howe-Douglas and Laurence Rickard shared their thoughts on the series now that it has ended.

“I think we made the right decision to finish,” Howe-Douglas shared. “But it wasn’t an easy decision, and it certainly was very hard on the day.”

The creative team behind the show has now found themselves as the starting point for an unlikely media empire, with a US version still going strong and new versions in Germany, France, Australia, and Greece coming out this year. While they wouldn’t say if it tempted them to bring the original Ghosts back for a revival series now that it has some international attention, Rickard did offer this bit of insight on the subject.

“I mean, hey, you shut doors, but you know, they’ve got hinges and handles and things. You never, you know.”

Certainly not a confirmation, but not dismissing the idea completely. It almost sounds like they are leaving the door open (or at least the hinges well oiled) to more Ghosts UK should the opportunity arise.
