The best kills of NBC's Hannibal, according to our favorite duo Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy

Which of the killings in NBC's Hannibals were the greatest? Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy tell all

Look, there’s no getting around it: a lot of people died in NBC’s Hannibal. It was unavoidable — it was, after all, a show about a serial killer that featured a lot of serial killers and death as a whole. Throughout the three seasons of the fan-favorite show — which ran from 2013 through 2015 — did series stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen have any particular favorite deaths?

The question was asked directly during the pair’s appearance at Emerald City Comic Con 2025, and perhaps unsurprisingly, both actors tend towards the more… violent killings, whether that’s physically or emotionally violent.

“I do like the scene — the last scene of the show, basically — where we’re both killing together, because it was just more brutal,” Dancy admitted.

“It’s the first time you see […] not the only person I killed, now I think about it, by a long shot [but] it was a different style, right? It was teeth, it was slashing, and gutting, and so on,” he continued, joking, “I don’t know why I liked that.”

“There was a lot of plateaus that were really beautiful,” added Mikkelsen. “Obviously, the totem people, the human mural was super cool and interesting, But I gotta say, killing Abigail [Hobbs, daughter of serial killer Garret Jacob Hobbs] the third time was brutal. Killing little poor Abigail the third time… that was, even for us, a little heartbreaking, you know?”

Trust Hannibal himself to choose the option that rips your heart out. (He’s probably already sizing it up for flavor and cooking time.)
