Hazbin Hotel creator: The biggest regret from season 1 is how little time we spend with Adam, and how that changed season 2 for the better

While Adam didn't get as much time to shine in season 1, Hazbin Hotel season 2 is giving its villains more room to grow

After season one of Hazbin Hotel became such a massive hit, it was time for creator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano to reflect on what went well to help inform how they would move forward with future seasons. Recently, at New York Comic Con 2025, they shared their biggest regret in Hazbin Hotel season one and how that has changed how they approach the villains in season two.

During the Hazbin Hotel panel at NYCC 2025, Medrano explained that, if they could do it all over again, they would give Adam more time in the spotlight in season one. I think my want, like, season one, the biggest regret I have, and it’s more, again, it’s not like I could have done it without more episodes or more time, but I really do wish we’d had more time with Adam as the villain. That was like one of my, yeah… I think like, my biggest regret is I think that the fun of a villain is getting a presence of him. And to be fair, like I think we tried really hard to give Adam that presence in season one, but my want was, I was like, ‘I want a season where we get like a full amount of time with the villains of the season.”

That reflection on season one of Hazbin Hotel changed some of the focus for the upcoming season two. “And so, season two was kind of that. Like, I was like, I think that should be the focus in terms of the, the involvement of the Vees. And it was also important to include them in season one.”

You can watch the entire Hazbin Hotel panel from New York Comic Con 2025 here ahead of season two landing on Prime Video on October 29, 2025.
