Hazbin Hotel creator teases arrival of the show’s missing big bad

Since debuting a pilot episode on YouTube in 2019, Hazbin Hotel has built up an impassioned fanbase celebrating the artistry and whimsy of Vivienne Medrano's TV show. Following Charlie Morningstar, the princess of Hell, the titular Hazbin Hotel is a place where the residents of Hell can work to redeem themselves so they can hopefully earn a place in Heaven. Who doesn't love a good ol' redemption story? Well, the Root of All Evil herself, of course.

The Root of All Evil, also known as simply "Roo," has been hinted at for more than five years by the show's creator, Vivienne Medrano. Now, we have official confirmation from Medrano herself that Roo is en route. On Bluesky, Medrano coyly posted that, "We recorded [Roo's] first session this week... Won't say what season, won't say who. But she exists."

We know that Amazon Prime Video has renewed Hazbin Hotel for a third and fourth season. And, Medrano has stated that she envisions the show running for five seasons, hence why she chose not to divulge the season that Roo will show up in. That said, season two of Hazbin Hotel is dropping this week, so it's unlikely that Roo will debut in the show's sophomore season. With seasons three and four confirmed at this time of writing, that leaves plenty of narrative real estate for Medrano to set the stage for Roo's arrival.

In any event, you can go into season two of Hazbin Hotel safe in the knowledge that things are about to get messy in Hell, in the near future at least.
