Yes, model Alton Mason really did drop a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference at the Met Gala 2025
If you're going to pay tribute to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure at a fashion event, Giorno Giovanna is a good one to celebrate.

If you’ve been on social media the past few days, you can’t have missed the news that the Met Gala has happened. It is a chance for some of the biggest names in fashion, music, and acting to strut their stuff in some cutting-edge clothes. Some of those outfits were pretty bizarre, but, in the case of model Alton Mason, that was intentional as he walked into the Met Gala 2025 in an outfit inspired by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
When you get a glimpse of his outfit beneath the fashionably gigantic overcoat, the inspiration seems pretty evident. Alton Mason’s chest was exposed in a heart-shaped cutout similar to the one sported by the most fashionable JoJo, Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind. In a quick interview posted by Teen Vogue, he confirmed that this was, indeed, a JoJo reference. “I have a favorite anime. It’s called JoJo and this is an ode to it. Giorno Giovanna has a cut out so I decided to include that.”
Honestly, if any anime was fit for the Met Gala, it is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The outfits are legendary in the manga and anime and no one pulls them off quite as well as Giorno. Maybe it is the fact that he has both Joestar and Dio’s blood in him. Maybe it is the fact that he is overwhelmingly Italian that gives him such impeccable taste. Either way, he is the perfect character to pay tribute to at one of the most celebrated fashion events of the year.
