It’s D23 Expo 2024, which means it’s time for some news in the Marvel Animation world. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a highly anticipated upcoming cartoon featuring everyone’s favorite web slinging hero, and we’ve just learned a bit more about the series. Oscar Award winner Colman Domingo will be playing Norman Osborn in the series.
In response to a moderator question about what drew Domingo to the role of Norman Osborn, Domingo answered, “He is the ultimate supervillain,” adding that he would be “following in the footsteps of Willem Dafoe.”
Domingo continued by saying that the story would dive into Norman’s origin and the “fall from grace”/ the success of growing into supervillainy. He seemed particularly excited to play a villain, sharing with the audience “I don’t know why I’m drawn to the villains. I don’t know what that says about me.”
It you want to know a little more about how the series is going to take on one of Spider-Man's classic villains, showrunner Jeff Trammell shared with the audience that “Norman has good intentions, but he hasn’t embodied the hero role like Tony has… but sometimes the methods in which he is sharing with Peter may not work out in everybody’s best interests.”
As for how those methods turn out, we'll have to wait for the show to hit Disney+ to see.
