Marvel adds Spider-Man: Far from Home's AI E.D.I.T.H. to its growing android army in Disney+'s Vision series
Remember E.D.I.T.H., the AI that Iron Man gifted to Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home? The MCU's Vision series will reacquaint you with her, and we're wondering why the show keeps adding AI characters

Spider-Man: Far From Home came out six years ago, but it feels more like ten because of everything we've gone through since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Marvel Studios is eager to bring us back to simpler times, though, with a little help from E.D.I.T.H., the AI that Tony Stark gifts to Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home. (Remember E.D.I.T.H.?) The character will be returning, with a new actress to boot, in the upcoming Vision series on Disney+.
As reported by Variety, Emily Hampshire, best known for her role as Stevie on Schitt's Creek, is stepping into the role of E.D.I.T.H. for the Vision series. Previously, E.D.I.T.H. had been voiced by Dawn Michelle King, which leads me to think that E.D.I.T.H. will be following in the footsteps of her fellow Stark-created AI J.A.R.V.I.S. and will get a physical android form in the series. Why else would you bring a new actress on?
What makes this particularly noteworthy is that Hampshire joins T'Nia Miller, who will be playing the android Jocasta, and of course, Paul Bettany, who will be reprising his role as Vision in the MCU. Oh, and James Spader will return as Ultron, ten years after he first debuted in the role in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. That's a lot of artificial intelligences being gathered in one place, including characters that haven't been seen for awhile, and characters that haven't ever been seen in the MCU. All of this suggests that the as-yet-untitled Vision series is going to heavily center around robots and artificial lifeforms and whatever that might mean in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... perhaps owing no small debt to the short-lived Avengers A.I. comic book series from 2013.
It's not only robots and AIs that'll be returning in the new series; Faran Tahir, who first appeared in 2008's Iron Man as Raza, the Ten Rings leader who kidnapped Tony Stark, will also return for the show, per reports. It's good to see Tahir get another shot at the MCU, and hopefully he'll get more material to work with this time around. But whatever does the Ten Rings want with all of those cybernetic lifeforms...?
The untitled Vision series is expected to have a 2026 release date on Disney+.
