Depending on who you ask, there are few stars in the world bigger than Jimmy Donaldson. If that name doesn’t ring any bells, maybe we could call him by his online handle, MrBeast. With his media empire steadily expanding, MrBeast has brought in an expert to help him create more content. Corie Henson, who most recently was the unscripted chief at NBC, is joining Beast Industries.
Corie Henson has been named President of Beast Industry Studios, which oversees the YouTube channel that made MrBeast an online celebrity, along with longform streaming shows like Beast Games. Amazon has already renewed Beast Games for two more seasons.
At NBC, Henson was EVP, Unscripted Content, Competition and Game Shows, which put her in charge of America’s Got Talent, The Voice, and Love Island. She brings that expertise to MrBeast’s shows, both the online and offline variety. Her role as President of Beast Industry Studios will involve overseeing both scripted and unscripted shows for MrBeast.
This news comes months after MrBeast signed on to write a book with James Patterson, which had us scratching our heads and lamenting the future of literature.
“MrBeast rewired how millions of people consume entertainment,” Henson said in a statement about joining Beast Industry Studios. We’ll refrain from commenting on whether that was a good thing or not. “I’m beyond thrilled to join Jimmy and Jeff [Housenbold, CEO of Beast Industries] to help build what comes next. We’re not just creating franchises, we’re building worlds that actually matter to fans – and doing it across every screen.”
