What is it like being the only adult in a room full of hyper middle school-aged boys? Ask David Harbour, because he has some stories.

Harbour plays Jim Hopper on Stranger Things, where most of his co-stars are young boys. If you’ve ever spent time in a middle school, you might have a good idea of how young boys behave when you keep them in closed quarters for a period of time.

“It’s annoying. Those brats are horrible, and they just get worse and worse,” Harbour jokes during a panel at Tampa Bay Comic Convention.

Harbour made it clear that he was kidding, and he had nothing but love for the boys. However, they did find ways to test his patience. Especially during the first season.

“It’s hilarious. It’s very weird, I have to say. I remember being like, you know, for me it’s a big break, it’s like you’re on a Netflix show, and you’re doing takes and you’re around 12-year-olds who are like, ‘You farted.’ I mean, they’re great. They’re really great kids, all of them.”

Stranger Things season five premieres November 26 on Netflix.
