In case you didn’t get the memo, New York Comic Con is not just for comics – anime has been taking over in a very big way. Crunchyroll used its industry panel on Thursday at NYCC 2025 to exert its dominance over the anime streaming world, including the news that they have snagged the streaming rights to Oshi no Ko season three from competitor HIDIVE’s clutches in a big win for the company’s January 2026 anime lineup.

HIDIVE has been the initial streaming home of Oshi no Ko for the past two seasons, with episodes later appearing on Netflix depending on your region. Crunchyroll getting the rights to stream Oshi no Ko season three is not an unheard-of change, but it is something that caught us off guard slightly when it was announced during the Crunchyroll Industry Panel at New York Comic Con 2025.

We’re not going to speculate on what this means for either company because both Crunchyroll and HIDIVE have their places in the anime industry. Crunchyroll’s objective, in their own words, is to have the most anime of any streaming service out there, and, thanks to them being purchased by Sony and absorbing Funimation into their ranks, they have the contacts to do it. HIDIVE tends to feature fewer shows but, each season, has at least one “must-see” series. We expected that Oshi no Ko season three would be that for January 2026, but now we’re wondering what they have to take its place.

Oshi no Ko season three will be streaming on Crunchyroll in most territories outside of Japan.
