The anime industry has changed and it is finally time for One Piece to change with it [Popverse Jump]

The transition to a seasonal anime is going to be strange for One Piece fans but it is definitely the right thing for Toei Animation to do.

There are few certainties in the world. For the past 20 years, we’ve known that a fresh episode of One Piece was on its way every week. Outside of the occasional hiatus, which ranged from one week to a few months, One Piece has maintained a release schedule that feels impossible by today’s standards. In fact, it has become impossible, which is why Toei Animation is switching the series to a seasonal anime starting in April 2026.

In many ways, this change feels inevitable. As One Piece has become more and more popular, expectations for the animation quality of the anime have become higher and higher.
