As just about anyone can tell you, high school is weird. But I would imagine that it’s an even stranger experience when you’re the star of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians show on Disney+, and you have to go to class in between takes on set. But somehow, child actors like Walker Scobell make it work. 

At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the Percy Jackson panel revealed how actors like Walker Scobell have to attend class on set while covered in “blood” and “dirt.” Scobell elaborated on the experience while filming epic battle sequences for season 2 of the show. “It’s very strange. We just had this giant battle sequence… so we’d be up there, everyone would be fighting, everyone would be screaming, there’s all these cries for help and in pain. And in my mind I’m trying to like kill this dude. And I’d be in school and I’d, like, still hear that… I’d hear people begging for their life… It’s a weird, weird thing in your head to switch off, you know what I mean?” 

Frankly, I can’t imagine trying to learn trigonometry or chemistry after running around the woods with a sword for the camera. But Scobell is a bonafide professional, and his dedication to doing both his schoolwork and professional responsibilities as the lead on the Disney+ show was something that the adult members of the Percy Jackson cast were quick to express their admiration for. 

Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be out on December 10, 2025, on Disney+.
