I said, some years ago here on this site, that My Dress-Up Darling is my favorite romance anime, which is only partially true. The full truth is that another show holds the keys to my heart, but in a very different way. The Quintessential Quintuplets is a show that is, at its core, trashy romance anime that is both incredibly heartfelt and dumb, and yet I find myself so excited to finally see the last two anime specials now that they’re finally streaming.

For the uninitiated, The Quintessential Quintuplets is a pseudo-harem romance anime based on the manga by Negi Haruba. It follows the misadventures of Futaro as he struggles to tutor the Nakano sisters, who have just transferred to his school.
