Netflix is showing off Sakamoto's epic weight-loss power in the new trailer for Sakamoto Days season 1 part 2
Hey, if we could lose weight that quickly, we'd be eating sweets all the time too

One of the most highly anticipated anime of 2025 is already here, with Sakamoto Days becoming a big hit for Netflix this season. The first season is being split up into two parts, with part two set to hit us in July 2025. We’re only halfway through this batch of episodes, but Netflix is already teasing the action on the way in Sakamoto Days season one part two – including a glimpse at Taro Sakamoto’s weirdest power of all.
The trailer gives us a taste of some of the wild characters we’re about to see in the second part of Sakamoto Days’ first season (including the half-man/half-deer hitman from the opening credits. However, the coolest moment of the clip features a skinny Taro Sakamoto going all out against someone who has threatened his family and friends.
This isn’t a flashback to before he settled down and got comfortable; it is our first glimpse of one of the weirdest abilities the legendary hitman has developed over the years. When pushed into a corner, Sakamoto can consume all of the accumulated calories he has stored over the years in a single burst, giving him speed and strength that rivals his abilities in his prime. We can see this lightning-quick weight-loss technique in action toward the end of the new trailer.
Does this ability make sense? Of course not, but it is a fun take on the usual “New Level of Power” trope that Shonen manga have been chasing since the first time Goku went Super Saiyan. Plus, seeing Sakamoto beat the snot out of baddies is always fun, so we’re down to see him doing it faster and harder than before.
