John Schneider used to take his Smallville co-stars on rides in his The Dukes of Hazzard car General Lee

The Smallville cast use to go for rides in John Schneider’s General Lee

Lex Luthor and Jonathan Kent had a contemptuous relationship on the superhero drama Smallville. Jonathan was weary of Lex, feeling the mogul didn’t have the town’s best interests at heart, and worried about the influence he had over Clark. While the onscreen relationship was tense, the offscreen friendship between their actors Michael Rosenbaum and Jonn Schneider was warm.

“The relationships we had off camera were, and are, they’re great,” Schneider says during a panel at Comic Con Revolution. “That’s important when you watch people on camera. If they don’t get along, if they don’t truly care about one another, then I think that shows.”

How do you show your co-stars that you care? By taking them for rides on your iconic TV car.

“He drove me in the General Lee. I went to his house. He had the General Lee, and we cruised around, and it was awesome,” Rosenbaum recalls.

For those who aren’t familiar, the General Lee is the iconic Dodge Charger from Schneider’s 1979-1985 series The Dukes of Hazzard. While Schneider doesn’t own the original General Lee, the actor has his own replica known as Bo’s General Lee, which has been used in reunion projects such as the 2000 television film Hazzard in Hollywood.

My only question for Rosenbaum is how he and Schneider entered the car. Did they jump in through the window like Bo and Luke Duke?
