Strange Things season 5 fires the first shot as Netflix enters the popcorn bucket wars

No, the Stranger Things Demogorgon Popcorn Bucket (available at Target) is not a bear trap. We get the confusion though

You probably remember where you were when you first saw the Dune Popcorn Bucket. It was so alien, you recall, and yet you knew how the internet would suggest it be used. What you couldn't have foreseen, though, was the madness it inspired - a demented craze that took over movie marketing for everything from Deadpool to Nosferatu, Freakier Friday to M3GAN. And now, surely unexhausted reader, thrill at the Popcorn Wars latest development, as the buckets have made the transition from big screen to small...

...Starting with Stranger Things season 5.

As reported on by Parade, the Stranger Things popcorn bucket is 12 inches tall, with an 8 inch depth and width. It is made out of both vinyl and tin and, oh yeah, imitates the bestial jaws of the Demagorgon. That's right, you too can now have your favorite TV-watching treat fed to you via the very maw that regularly kills Hawkins citizens - the jaws even open and close!

One thing I gotta say in the Stranger Things Demogorgon Popcorn Bucket's favor - this may be the best popcorn bucket yet in terms of price and durability. While too many movie tie-ins have amounted to large, single use plastics that will run you the same price as a day's worth of food for your family, this snaggle-toothed snackbowl will cost you $19.87. That's a reference to the year in which season 5 is set, by the way, or perhaps a subtle nod that you can probably get about 40ish years outta this thing.

The Stranger Things Demogorgon Popcorn Bucket will release October 5, but here's the thing - pre-orders for this item have already sold out as of this writing. We have to imagine that Target, who seem to have the exclusive on this product right now, will produce more in the coming weeks, especially since, with Halloween coming up, this bucket could well double as a Trick-Or-Treat container.

Or just the perfect touch on a Bob Newby costume.

Stranger Things season 5, volume one debuts November 26 on Netflix, followed by volume 2 on December 25, and the ultimate finale of the series on December 31.
