Superman & Lois's Bitsie Tulloch helped design her own Lois Lane wardrobe (and used DC Comics as her primary inspiration)

Purple is Lois Lane's color, explains The CW actor that brought her to life. And no, that's not because it's Superman's red and blue combined (at least, we don't think so)

For fans of The CW's Arrowverse, Bitsie Tulloch may very well be the definitive Lois Lane. And if that's you, you'll already know that that was a role Tulloch took very seriously, though it may surprise you to learn that that manifested in Tulloch helping design her character's wardrobe. And for a further (albeit no less pleasant) you'll be happy to hear that Tulloch pulled directly from the source in doing so: the pages of DC Comics.

Oh, and some DC Comics fans.

Popverse senior video producer Ashely Victoria Robinson recently had a chance to chat with Tulloch, and much of the conversation revolved around how Tulloch created the character for her appearances in the Arrowverse and, later, for her titular role in Superman & Lois.

"I interacted a lot with the fans," says Tulloch, "And I found out very last minute that purple was Lois's color when I was shooting one of the crossover episodes. So then, when Superman and Lois was picked up to series, I made sure that the wardrobe designer [incorporated it]. I'm like, 'We've got to have some purple in every episode. That's Lois's color.' And then I wore the same little diamond studs throughout the entire series, because that matched most closely what Lois wears in the comic books."

No disrespect to any of the incredible live-action Lois Lanes we've had over the years, but going to far as to discover what kinds of earrings Lois wears in the comics might make Tulloch the most committed yet. Needless to say, we'll be keeping an eye on the jewelry Rachel Brosnahan's rocking.

Superman & Lois is streaming on HBO Max now. Watch Popverse's full interview with Bitsie Tulloch below.
