Survivor season 49 release date: When you can expect to return to the island on CBS

The 49th season of the long-running reality competition series Survivor is coming your way soon.

Survivor is one of longest-running shows on television, and soon it will be returning for season 49. The smash-hit reality competition series first debuted on CBS in May 2000. A quarter of a decade and almost fifty seasons later, the show is still going strong. And in all that time, Jeff Probst has continued to serve as the Survivor host. So, when can you expect to see Survivor season 49 on your TV screen once again?

The Survivor season 49 release date is September 24, 2025 at 8:00 PM ET on CBS. Survivor's season 49 premiere will be an extra long 2-hour episode. It has been only a few months since the show's 48th season ended, on May 21, 2025. Survivor season 49 will release new episodes on a weekly basis, and beginning on October 1, each new episode of Survivor will be followed by a new episode of The Amazing Race. Naturally, these are just two of the exciting TV shows you have to look forward to this fall. Here's the teaser trailer for Survivor season 49:

Based on the Swedish TV series Expedition Robinson, the long running Survivor has maintained the same format for the past twenty-five years. A group of contestants are dropped in an isolated location and left to fend for themselves. In between scavenging food and building fires, they compete with one another in challenges that are designed to test their mettle. The contestants regularly vote on which players will be eliminated from play over the course of the season. And when the season finale arrives, the final "Sole Survivor" is awarded the prize money.
Season 49 of Survivor will be released on September 24 on CBS.
