HBO Max drama The Pitt is well aware that fans want to see Noah Wyle play a Furry, and at least one show writer wants to make it happen

In this week's edition of None Of These Words Are In The Bible, The Pitt's showrunner addressed those Furry episode rumors

There's a lot going on in the world right now, and it's been that way for the past few years. One minute, I'm sitting in my home peacefully drinking tea, then the next I find out that there's something on the Internet called Skibidi Toilet. Personally, I blame that horrific foot picture that Joyce Carol Oates posted on Twitter in 2020 as the catalyst for Everything That's Happened. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, good for you.) Speaking of medical attention and things that make me feel old and confused, we've got the second season of (HBO) Max's hit medical drama The Pitt on the horizon, and it may involve a Furry played by none other than internet heartthrob (and The Pitt's leading man) Noah Wyle.

Yeah, I'll give you a second to take a seat somewhere.

Vulture reports that The Pitt's showrunner R. Scott Gemmill shared during a recent panel appearance that he had pitched a moment for the show's second season where a Furry showed up at the hospital and revealed that they were the "evil twin" of Noah Wyle's character. Gemmill said, “The idea was at the very end, one of the furries comes in and we’re going to take their hood off and it’s Noah, without a beard, and it’s his brother— it’s just like the end of the show.” As wild as that sounds, Gemill also noted that the idea "didn’t go over in the room as well as I thought it would."

Wait, so what exactly are Furries doing in The Pitt? It all began when Gemmill was at Carnegie Mellon University, and an audience member asked him if he knew that a Furry convention was scheduled to take place in Pittsburgh the same weekend that season 2 of the show was supposed to be set. Gemmill responded that he didn't know about the convention, and that he would alert the writers' room of it. As it turns out, the convention called Anthrocon has been taking place in Pittsburgh since 2006, and brought over 17,000 attendees last year. So clearly, it leaves an impression on the city. And since The Pitt is so committed to realism, then the next logical extension would be to bring in the Furries. I guess?

Anyways, this is all a lot to unpack, and who knows if we'll see any Furries in season 2 of The Pitt when it debuts on HBO Max in January 2026.
