The Studio's Ike Barinholtz jokes that Elon Musk might put him "in a gulag" for playing the Tesla and Twitter boss onscreen

At the Emmys, Ike Barinholtz dished on his upcoming performance as Elon Musk in Luca Guadagnino's film Artificial

I can't imagine what it would be like playing a public figure like Elon Musk in a Luca Guadagnino film, and it's an experience only Ike Barinholtz can attest to. That said, I do remember noted accent chameleon and absolute legend Christian Bale thanking Satan for providing the "inspiration" behind his portrayal of Dick Cheney in Vice in his Golden Globes acceptance speech, so there's that.

Barinholtz, who starred in Apple TV+'s The Studio, was asked on the Emmys red carpet by Variety if he was nervous about playing Musk in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming film, Artificial. “All I hope is that if he puts me into a gulag, it’s one with all of my friends. That way we can have a party," Barinholtz said.

I mean, he's got a point. Often the strongest bonds are those forged under the worst of circumstances. The same applies when two people hate the same person, an effect studied by social psychologists. God forbid Barinholtz ever end up in a gulag, but if he did, it would only highlight a gleaming nugget of truth: that he still has more friends than noted cheater of video games, Elon Musk.

The Studio is streaming now on Apple TV+.
