It's time to go on tour with The Vampire Lestat as everyone's favorite messy vampiric blond tries to court hordes of new fans as a rockstar. That's easier said than done, though, particularly for someone with as haunted a past as Lestat. So the question remains: will he be able to keep it together during his quest for world domination? Or will he choke onstage?
Regardless of how things turn out for Lestat, actor Sam Reid is said to pull on one hell of a performance in this current season of the show. Rolin Jones, showrunner and executive producer of The Vampire Lestat dished on the current season of the AMC show at ATX TV Festival 2026. "Gandolfini and [Sam] Reid... I'm telling you, it is one of the 10, whatever, 5 iconic American television performances you will ever see. You are not prepared. You just saw the tip of the iceberg, it's extraordinary. It's really incredible. It's something else," Jones said.
I'm not sure why Jones invoked the late Sopranos star James Gandolfini here when this is Sam Reid's show, but he's certainly setting some high expectations for us. I'll be getting my ducks in a row.
Since the show is set in the year 2022, I'll be curious to see if Lestat builds a cohort of overly parasocial fans. Imagine trying to explain stan Twitter to Lestat? Now I can't stop thinking about this.
