Watson season 2 release date: Deducing when the Sherlockian series starring Morris Chestnut will return to CBS

The release date for the sophomore season of Watson on CBS is elementary.

There have been myriad adaptations of the beloved Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. However, none of them are quite like Watson. Created by Craig Sweeny, the series follows the titular doctor as he solves medical mysteries that are inspired by our favorite Sherlockian stories. Soon the show, which stars Morris Chestnut as Doctor John Watson, will be returning for a sophomore season. So when can you expect to enjoy the next new episode of Watson?

The Watson season 2 premiere release date will be October 13 at 10:00 PM ET on CBS. New episodes will be released on a weekly basis in the same time slot. The first season concluded on May 11, 2025. Initially, Watson season 2 was slated to be released in January 2026. However, the premiere was moved up to October 2025 as a result of the show CIA being delayed. And of course, it is elementary that Watson is just one of many shows you can look forward to watching this fall.

Watson is a retelling of the Holmes canon that follows the good doctor after Sherlock Holmes (voiced in hallucinations by Matt Berry) has seemingly died at Reichenbach Falls. While that event supposedly killed Holmes' nemesis Professor James Moriarty (Randall Park) as well, Watson's first season revealed that Moriarty had survived. The series also features Eve Harlow as Ingrid Derian, Peter Mark Kendall as Stephens and Adam Croft, Inga Schlingmann as Sasha Lubbock, Ritchie Coster as Shinwell Johnson and Rochelle Aytes as Mary Morstan. And in addition to starring in the title role on the show, Chestnut also serves as executive producer.

Season 2 of Watson debuts on October 13 at 10:00 PM ET on CBS.
