How fans and a social media meme got Lady Gaga cast in Netflix's Wednesday season 2
I mean it's Lady Gaga, so you can assume that at least a little bit of her success in snagging a role in Wednesday comes down to... Just Dance.

No, Lady Gaga isn't in Wednesday season 2 because of her incredible Edward Scissorhands Halloween costume, pictured above. In fact, it wasn't even series director Tim Burton (who also did Edward Scissorhands) that ultimately sought Gaga out for a role in the second outing of Netflix's goth teen drama. It was Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar who pursued a cameo from Mother Monster herself.
Speaking recently to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wednesday creators did reveal that Gaga's involvement in season 2 did come from social media, just not from that (again, spectacular) costume she posted on her Instagram.
"It came from the internet," recounted Gough, "When people put Bloody Mary [on the viral Wednesday dance video] and then she did the dance too. She seemed perfect. We were excited to find her a small role in the show — which is all we can really say about that at this point."
Damn, so it took megastar Lady Gaga auditioning via TikTok trend just to get "a small role" on Wednesday?? That casting process seems insane. But then again, when you're working with the King, you best be able to prove you've got royal blood in you.
The King is Steve Buscemi, in case you didn't already gather that.
Wednesday Season 2 part 1 will be released on Netflix on August 6, with part 2 of the season coming September 3.
