Jenna Ortega got even more involved with Wednesday Addams - by becoming a producer on season 2 of the Netflix show

Being a producer meant Ortega was involved with creating Wednesday much earlier than she would have been as an actor.

The latest season of Wednesday is finally upon us, taking us back to Nevermore Academy for another semester and another mystery involving the Addams Family’s most notorious teenager. Unlike season one, Jenna Ortega steps behind the scenes as a producer in Wednesday season two for Netflix. After being an actor for more than half her life, Ortega found the transition to being a producer a surprisingly natural one.

While promoting Wednesday season two, Jenna was asked if she felt a burden by becoming a producer for one of the biggest shows in Netflix history. “No, because I’ve been doing this for – I’ve been doing this since I was nine, ten, so it’s been a big part of my life and I love what I do so much,” she explained to Late Night host Seth Meyers. “I love, you know, film and television, and it’s like all these doors open up that I didn’t know existed before.”

It has also been helpful for her as an actor to be involved in the filming process a bit earlier. “So it’s been really wonderful being able to see kind of all that goes into making these things behind the scenes and, you know, and before filming takes place and, you know, as an actor you’re usually like the last one to get the script. So it’s nice to, like, watch the progression and meet new people and be part of a stupid conversation or a really important conversation, all regarding safety and whatever. It sounds like really boring analytical stuff, but for me it’s been so fascinating.”

Jenna Ortega, producer credit and all, is back in Wednesday Season 2 Part 1, now streaming on Netflix.
