Netflix's Wednesday season 2 part 2 trailer spoils a returning character... and makes a Sandman joke?
Maybe the Wednesday season 2 part 2 trailer *didn't* actually make a Sandman joke, but both are shows on Netflix and both star... oh, sorry spoilers.

Look, we gotta warn you about spoilers in this article. But also, the spoilers in question came from... an official trailer? Take it for what you will, reader.
Wednesday season 2 part 1 is already just about at the level of viewership season 1 was at when it debuted in 2022 (per Variety), so naturally, you can expect streaming platform Netflix to offer us some juicy tidbits ahead of the release of part 2. And wow, did they ever. The Wednesday season 2 part 2 trailer is on Netflix's YouTube page now, and it just straight up gave away perhaps the biggest plot beat from the second half of this season.
That is, that former Nevermore Principal Larissa Weems (played by Gwendoline Christie) is back, despite having died in season 1. And it may be that she's not only returning to pierce the wall between life and death, but the fourth wall as well. Watch the trailer here, then we'll get into it.
After the (confusingly creepy) sponge-bath comment, one of Weems's first lines in this trailer is "This isn't Hell, but I understand the confusion." Now, there would simply nothing remarkable about that line except for the fact that Gwendoline Christie is literally playing the Lord of Hell in another Netflix hit. Yes, I'm talking about The Sandman, in which the Game of Thrones and Star Wars (remember?) star plays Lucifer Morningstar.
Of course, there's no official confirmation that Wednesday's writers included this as a reference to Christie's other devilish work, and it's very unlikely that there ever will be. And yet, I simply cannot convince myself that, in a world where easter egg hunts are half of all fan interactions with media, somebody in the hallowed halls of the Netflix production studio didn't at least consider this fact before allowing the line in the script.
Wednesday season 2 part 1 is streaming on Netflix now. Part 2 arrives September 3.
Fade to credits, then a pop-up of what to watch read next - just like Netflix:
