Marvel Studios' Werewolf by Night revealed as Halloween Special - watch the trailer now!

Yes, Marvel's really doing a werewolf one-off for Halloween... but he's not the only classic comics horror character in there

Prepare for a particularly spooky — and hairy — Halloween, as Marvel Studios confirmed at D23 Expo 2022 on Saturday that what was previously known as its “Untitled Halloween Special” was, in fact, a one-off MCU story featuring the classic '70s comic book character Werewolf by Night.

Starring Gael Garcia Bernal as the title character, alongside Laura Donnelly, the one-off show will feature Jake discovering that he’s a werewolf while trying to defend his small town in Arizona from supernatural threats. What kind of supernatural threats…? No-one’s officially saying just yet, but the newly-released (and genuinely wonderful) trailer features none other than Man-Thing in a blink and you’ll miss him cameo.

(Given that Man-Thing can help characters travel the multiverse in the comics — as well as burning anyone who knows fear, of course — it’s interesting that he’d show up just as Marvel Studios is entering its Multiverse Saga, isn’t it…? Hmm…)

Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation: Werewolf by Night will be directed by Michael Giacchino, better known as a composer for movies including Star Trek, Ratatouille, and more. The special will debut October 7 on Disney+.
