One Piece Day 2024 is coming! Here is what is planned and how you can get in on the action
Some top musical acts are taking the stage over the weekend
Popverse's top stories of the day
- My (pseudo) apology to My Dress-Up Darling
- The Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont has come out of retirement for Stranger Things' final Netflix season
- Why both Louise Simonson and Chris Claremont "weren't sure" Marvel's New Mutants was a good idea
If you’re like us, every day is One Piece Day, but some people need a bit more encouragement to celebrate our beloved Straw Hats. For the third year running, Bandai Namco Entertainment is putting together a two-day event for One Piece fans, and this one is looking bigger than ever. The only downside is, of course, that you’ll need to make your way to Tokyo to take part in most of the festivities.
One Piece Day takes place on 10-11 August, 2024 at Makuhari Messe just outside Tokyo. (Yes, One Piece Day runs across two days.) Rather than just focusing on the manga and anime, fans will also be able to get their hands on merch from the games and music from the One Piece franchise, as well.
Content that will be shown on the main stage will include voice actors from the anime, music performances, and a poll to find out what the best One Piece scene is. There will also be some new information about the creation of The One Piece, the anime remake coming to Netflix that was announced last year. You can catch the action on the official One Piece You Tube channel for free.
However, fans of One Piece theme songs will want to see what is happening over on the Live Stage at One Piece Day 2024. There, you'll see concerts by Ado, BE:FIRST, and Mori Calliope. On both days, Hiroshi Kitadani and Maki Otsuki, who sang the first opening and ending themes to the One Piece anime, will also be performing, so get your nostalgia goggles ready.
Can’t make it all the way to Tokyo for these concerts? You can still watch the Live Stage from overseas by purchasing a One Piece Day ’24 Special Live Streaming Ticket. Just head to the Stagecrowd website and purchase a ticket now. One Day streaming tickets are ¥3,800 ($23.64) each, or you can purchase a Two Day streaming ticket for ¥6,800 ($42.30). Significantly cheaper than hopping on a plane to Japan for the weekend.
It is a very good time to be a One Piece fan. Not only has the live action show returned to filming in South Africa, but the current Egghead Island arc is shaping up to be one of the best the series has ever had. One Piece Day is the perfect chance to share that joy with fans from all around the world.
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL...ly important to Popverse! That's why we've put together guides to help you watch through all the One Piece episodes out there, pick out the differences between the One Piece manga and live-action show, and even understand Monkey D. Luffy's Gear 5 form.
