Absolute Gotham is about to get a lot busier.
Ahead of the launch of the second big story arc of DC’s hit comic book series Absolute Batman, writer and series co-creator Scott Snyder has revealed that there’s even more to the story than just the introduction of Absolute Bane — two new important characters will make their debut, as well.
In a mailing to his Best Jacket Press newsletter, Snyder teased, “Bane has a whole new look and design. But on top of that, he's got surprises in his history. And it's also the debut of a couple characters that I think people will be very excited about that we've tried to keep really under wraps. So there's all of that. There's a glimpse inside of Ark M, which has another brand new take. It's really a special issue for us.”
That mailing included a big reveal — the title of the second arc: ‘Abomination.’ Should we consider that a teaser for the new characters, perhaps?
In a separate email message sent exclusively to comic store retailers that included access to an early version of the entire issue, Snyder added that the storyline “comes with all the bone crunching brutality you’d expect, but it also contains some other big surprises… For one, it features the new Arkham Asylum, but it also introduces some fan-favorite characters that are going to feature hugely in the series.”
So, the two “couple characters” are “fan-favorite” and “going to feature hugely in the series”? Time to start speculating who it could be. (It’s the Absolute Wonder Twins, isn’t it? I mean, it has to be… okay, maybe not. My money’s on someone with a Robin connection, more seriously…)
Absolute Batman #9, the first chapter of Abomination, is intended for a release date of June 11.
