Berserk release schedule: Everything we know about when the next Berserk chapter will come out in Japan and the US
The incredible work of Kentaro Miura lives on as Berserk continues to have a sporadic and unpredictable release schedule.
The death of Kentaro Miura in 2021 was seen as a devastating blow for manga fans. For years, he had struggled to consistently update his iconic manga, Berserk, due to his failing health and the incredible level of detail seen in his artwork. Though he has passed, the story and legacy of Berserk continue as his assistants aim to finish the dark fantasy epic. However, that means that we have a fairly uncertain Berserk release schedule to follow.
How often do new Berserk chapters come out?
Even when Kentaro Miura was alive, new chapters of Berserk were released sporadically. There was no set release schedule for Berserk; new chapters were simply published when they were ready. That trend has continued even after the mangaka’s death. There is not a Berserk release schedule that you can rely on. We just get them when they’re ready.
What is the next chapter of Berserk?
The most recent chapter of Berserk that was published was Chapter 383, which was released in Japan on September 12, 2025. Since then, there haven’t been any updates to the Berserk release schedule to hint at when the next chapter will come out.
When is the next Berserk release date in English?
While Japanese fans have found that they have to wait months or even years between chapters, international fans often have a much longer wait. That is because new chapters often aren’t released in English until there is enough for a new volume, which is typically around nine chapters. The next volume that will be released in English is Berserk Volume 43, which will be out on October 27, 2026. Dark Horse Comics handles the English-language release of Berserk.
After that, it isn’t clear when the next volume will be published. Only one chapter hasn’t been published in a volume collection. With the unpredictable nature of the Berserk release schedule, it may take years to produce enough chapters for Volume 44.
Who writes Berserk?
Berserk was first published in 1989 by Monthly Animal House magazine in Japan. It was written and drawn by Kentaro Miura until his death in 2021. Since then, Berserk has been written by Miura’s friend Kouji Mori and drawn by Miura’s assistants and apprentices at Studio Gaga.
What is Berserk about?
Berserk takes place in a dark fantasy world that has been overrun by demons. Guts, an orphaned mercenary, joins the Band of the Hawk and befriends its leader, Griffith. However, Griffith betrays his followers and Guts, causing Guts to become consumed by a need for revenge.
The story is dark and gruesome at times, but throughout Berserk, the artwork and passion are second to none. It is one of the most beautiful comic books ever drawn, provided you can get past the dark themes.
