Marvel has a new age, a new villain, and a new job for Matt Murdock aka Daredevil - just in time for Born Again season 2
Marvel is relaunching the Daredevil comic to coincide with MCU's Born Again season 2, and creating a new villain.

Comic shelves aren't the same without a new Daredevil comic on the shelves each month, and I've been on a bit of a withdrawal since the last ongoing series ended in September. The good news? A new one is coming. The bad news? I have to wait until March 2026.
But come March, I'm going to get a lot of Daredevil.

Marvel Comics has announced its relaunching its storied Daredevil comic book series with a new #1 and a new creative team in Stephanie Phillips (Harley Quinn) and Lee Garbett (Batman, Loki: Agent of Asgard) - and it'll not-so-coincidentally coincide with Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again season 2 debut on March 4.
"Following in the footsteps of legendary creative teams from the title’s esteemed history, Phillips and Garbett set out to redefine Daredevil for a new age!" reads Marvel's marketing for the new series. "A fresh start that’s perfect for newcomers and longtime fans alike, the new run sees Matt Murdock confront unprecedented challenges—both in his personal life as Matt Murdock and on the dangerous streets of Hell’s Kitchen as Daredevil. Matt will go back to school, taking on a new role as a law professor just as a new super villain named Omen emerges with a mysterious vendetta against his super hero alter ego."
They also add this sizzle, saying "This mysterious new player isn’t all that they appear—a secret Daredevil will have to learn quickly as he scrambles to settle into a life and status-quo we’ve NEVER SEEN HIM IN BEFORE!"
There's two things that stand out to me there:
- Matt Murdock is becoming a law professor (no word on where, but it would be nice if he went to his alma mater, Columbia)
- There's a new villain named Omen, with some sort of grudge against Daredevil
- There's a secret to this all, that Marvel teases will change the status quo of DD for a while
"I'm taking on one of my favorite characters with one of my favorite artists, and together we're exploring Daredevil's noir sensibilities," Phillips explains in the announcement. “Lee Garbett brings so much style and emotion to every page, and I couldn't ask for a better partner to bring this version of Daredevil to life."
Daredevil #1 will come with variant covers from the likes of Ryan Stegman, Rose Besch, Gabriele Dell'otto, Alex Maleev, Dan Panosian, Joe Quesada, Pablo Villalobos, Daniel Warren Johnson, Greg Land and more, but series artist Lee Garbett is leading it with the above main cover.
"I couldn't be more excited to be working with Stephanie Phillips on Daredevil," Garbett added. "We came into the project together, with a genuine love of the character and a clear vision for the book. Steph is an incredible writer and has absolutely nailed the tone and heart of Daredevil's world. Every beat feels authentic and DD at its purest, but we’ve got fresh ideas and some big surprises in store!"
Daredevil #1 goes on sale March 18, 2026.
